anniversary of the Trey Whitfield

Bradshaw, from Guyana, was the first
teacher that was hired when the
school opened in 1983, with an enrollment
of a surprising 283 students.
Jordon and Griffith are also from
Guyana while Eloi is from Haiti. Ms.
Janie C. Whitney, vision and mission
was simple, a faith and character
based school with high academic
achievement at an affordable cost to
families.

AFRICAN
MUSIC AND
MAGIC:
Musicians and storytellers
Hasan Bakr
and Kevin Nathaniel
(in photo) will introduce
pre-school and
young school-age children
to the sounds of
Africa and the African
diaspora through the
story of a young musician,
a magician, and
how they save their village
from the evil giant
Abiyoyo. Instruments
include the djembe,
mbira, bongo, and
shekere. This will be
held on Sunday, May
18, 2008 from 2 - 4 pm
at the Audubon Center
in Prospect Park,
Brooklyn, NY.
