Throwaway Kids Foundation To Host Boxing Match In Mount Vernon

It was announced recently, Boxer, Rob Garris fro Throwaway Kids Foundation will fight at the Dole Center in Mount Vernon on Friday, May 20, 2011 at 6pm located at 250 South 6th Avenue, Mount Vernon, NY 10550.

Throwaway Kids Foundation was founded by Boxer, Rob Garris a former foster child and his organization assists foster children in finding resources once they are aging out of foster care, also assists them in finding their biological parents.When they are able to they buy tombstones for children that pass away while in the foster care system.

Rob Garris wants to demonstrate to “foster children” that by believing in God and belief in self, a foster child can succeed in their goals. There will be ten fights for the night with an intermission and the guest artist during the intermission is Rap Group “Brand Nubian” and young artist D’Andre aka Lil Michael Jackson.

	-Damion Reid Photo: SUBWAY HERO HONORED AT CITY HALL: Council Member Leroy Comrie (2nd right) presented a New York City Council proclamation to Queens resident Veeramuthu “Kali” Kalimuthu (center), a Columbia University mechanic who recently risked his life to save a fallen subway passenger. The presentation took place at City Hall on Wednesday, April 16 in the Council Chambers, where Kalimuthu was joined by his wife, children and co-workers. According to several media reports, Kalimuthu demonstrated extraordinary heroism on Friday, March 14 when a fellow New Yorker collapsed unconscious onto the northbound subway tracks of the No. 1 line at the 116th station.
