Melba Moore To Receive Legendary Artist Award From LYBI

Melba MooreOn Sunday, October 12, Tony award winning Melba Moore will receive Love Your Breasts, Inc. (LYBI) Legendary Artist Award. Since 2006, Ms. Moore has been the celebrity spokeswoman for the multiple award winning community service organization LYBI.

Ms. Moore will perform at the event taking place at The Elegant Rose Hall 4848 White Plains Road Bronx, New York during the hours of 3pm- 8pm. Tax deductible ticket purchase is $85.

This legendary artist has been singing since the age of four. Ms. Moore states "God gave me an opera voice and I wanted to use it." Ms. Moore's enduring beauty and strong four octave voice has assured her a rewarding career in theater, television and film. She always projects during performances a sophisticated and contemporary image and an unforced vitality. Ms. Moore just recently performed at New York City's Lincoln Center with special guest singer Freddie Jackson.

LYBI is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and its founder Angela Darling M.S., RN is now herself a nine year breast cancer survivor. Angela or a member of the organization is present at health fairs throughout the Bronx to continually raise awareness. Angela can be booked for guest speaker presentations.

LYBI also distributes a free quarterly educational newsletter, provides support services via a monthly cancer support group, and bimonthly Look Good Feel Better programs of which LYBI has partnered with the Bronx Region of The American Cancer Society. LYBI is extremely visible in the community. It's mission is dedicated to educate and heighten awareness of breast cancer and other cancers in our communities with emphasis on minorities to provide basic health information, overall wellness tips and support services.

Icreeupree to stage 2nd Annual Domestic Violence Event

On October 17, Icreeupree will be presenting it’s second ‘Annual Domestic Violence’ event at the Sugar Bar, located at 254 West 72nd Street, NY, NY between Broadway and West end Avenue.

The 5 Sistah’s of Soul and Wisdom will be bringing elements of Soul, Jazz, Blues and Spoken Word all under one roof. Doors open at 7:00 pm. for cocktails, dinner and networking. The show will start at 9:00 pm. sharp. ICM Fest Line Up of International Acts Finalized!

Music Festival which has been a staple event in South Florida since 1997 is set to take place at the historic Virginia Key Beach Park, Key Biscayne, Miami, on Sunday, November 16t. This popular event has experienced many positive changes since its inception as a Pre- Thanksgiving Family Fun Day, Reggae Bash held at the AT&T Amphitheatre, which consisted of a lineup that still is being talked about today.

Concert Pianist Roy Eaton To Perform in Mt.Vernon, Oct. 19th

The public is invited to attend a free concert, presented by the Friends of the Mount Vernon Public Library, featuring the distinguished, and award-winning concert pianist, Roy Eaton.

Mr. Eaton, a former Mount Vernon resident, will perform classical works by George Gershwin, and Frederic Chopin, as well as ragtime favorites by Scott Joplin. The concert will be held on Sunday, October 19, at 3:00 p.m. in the Community Room of the Mount Vernon Public Library.

Mr. Eaton was the first recipient of the Kosciuszko Foundation's Chopin Award in 1950. Since his American debut with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra in 1951, he has appeared as a soloist with major orchestras internationally.

Bob MarleyNigeria To Name Street After Bob Marley

Legendary reggae singer, Robert Nesta Marley, may be gone but his impact on the world remains with Nigeria becoming the latest nation to rename a street in his honor.

Federal Capital Territory minister Aliyu Umar said some of the 80 roads in Nigeria's administrative capital are to be renamed shortly. One will become the Bob Marley street. Streets will also be named after Jamaican icon, Marcus Garvey as well as America`s Malcolm X and Martin Luther King.

Officials are not forgetting African icons such as Nobel laurete Wole Soyinka and Chinua Achebe and famous afro musician Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, who will also have streets named after them.
